Bio

Mrs. Patterson grew up in Cordele, Georgia where she attended Crisp County public schools. In 1999, she graduated, with honors, from Crisp County High School. She attended the University of Georgia from 1999 - 2003 and graduated with a BFA from the University of Georgia in 2003. Mrs. Patterson began her teaching career as a 7th grade social studies instructor at Staley Middle School through the GATAPP program, an alternate pathway for teaching certification with a college degree. While at Staley, she taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. In addition, Mrs. Patterson earned her gifted certification from Chattahoochee-Flint RESA.  Mrs. Patterson began teaching at Sumter County Primary School in 2010. She worked as a special education paraprofessional for two years, Pre-K teacher for three years, and Kindergarten teacher for one year. In 2014 she earned her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southwestern State University. When Furlow Charter School opened in 2015, Mrs. Patterson joined the team of founding advisors as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. She has continued to learn and grow as an educator at Furlow.  Mrs. Patterson recently received her Math Endorsement for Elementary, as well as completing professional development through Growing Readers, a K-3 literacy professional learning grant administered through the Governor's Office of Student Achievement. Small class sizes, two year looping, and interdisciplinary projects are a few things Mrs. Patterson loves about teaching at Furlow.

Mrs. Patterson lives in Ellaville with her husband, son,  dog, and cat.
